Opened in March 2014 by Alex Barter and myself, Adam Withington, Black Bough is a shop that reflects the interests and knowledge that we both have individually and collectively.
Alex’s knowledge base is vintage watches and, in particular, vintage wristwatches. His experience in this somewhat singular field was gained while he worked at Sotheby’s as a member of their watch team, progressing from department assistant in 1996 to director and head of their watch department in Europe, via a stint of 4 years running the watch department in Geneva. My interests lie in design, craft and art; for a period of 13 years I ran a block of artists’ studios in West London, arranged exhibitions and helped those involved within the creative industries to develop their businesses.
Black Bough reflects our disparate and broad interests; we sell one off items made by local artists, vintage pieces that we pick up on our travels, vintage wristwatches from Omega and Rolex to Longines, Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe and everyday items such as greetings cards and gift wrap.
