Broad Bean

Broad Bean is a delicatessen and wholefoods store in the centre of Ludlow on . . . . Broad Street . . . see what they did there?! It was established in 1977 and has been under the current ownership of Tim and Deb for the past 3 and a half years. One of the distinctive features of Broad Bean is their stock of foodstuffs that you can buy loose by weight; from tea, coffee and oats to dried fruit and nuts. This comes into its own when you are making Christmas cake and the like; that one time during the year when you might need glacé cherries and then only need 100g. There are over 2000 stock lines in Broad Bean, including such exotic (for Ludlow!) ingredients as za’atr and garam flour. They also have a delicatessen section selling cheese and a selection of dairy products, many of them produced locally. The staff knowledge of their stock is excellent; they will almost always find the product that you are looking for, and if they don’t have it in stock they may well suggest alternatives or point you in the direction of someone else in Ludlow who may stock it.

Alongside the stock of foodstuffs Broad Bean also have a wellbeing/supplement area and offer refills of Ecover products. They also offer a free delivery service within the SY8 postcode for orders over £20 and free deliveries within a radius of 10 miles from Ludlow for purchases over £30. You can also order or browse from their website.
