Draycott and Charles

Jean Draycott opened her shop in June 2011 at Chapel Works, Old Street, Ludlow. The shop provides a full interiors service and has a huge stock of high quality fabrics, wallpapers and paints. Having previously worked as a barrister, though she trained as a silversmith before that, Jean’s passion for fabric eventually came to the fore. It is her in depth knowledge of fabric, how it is made and how it can be made to work that informs the service that Draycott and Charles provide. Libby Lord works alongside Jean in the shop and between them they can come up with interior design solutions from the upholstering of a single chair to the complete re-design of rooms. Equally if you are nifty with a sewing machine they will sell you the fabric for you to do the work yourself! Jean and her staff aim to interpret their customers’ style and lead them through their stock and skills to come up with the perfect design solution.

Draycott and Charles has access to a broad range of craftspeople that they work with, from blacksmiths to specialist painter/decorators and upholsterers. The passion for craftsmanship and quality shows through in their stock; some of the fabrics come from Italian mills, some are hand printed in Gloucestershire, some of the passementerie is handmade in Ludlow and much of the accompanying furniture in the shop comes from G D Ginger Antiques on Corve Street.
